Im waiting on my permit and Im considering carring my new officers size 1911. If anyone else carries this size let me know what holster you like the best and why. Pictures would be great.
I usually just wear t-shirt or pull overs with an undershirt and Im hoping I can make it work. I use a 5.11 trainer belt everyday already, mostly because its velcro and works as a good work belt.

    Thanks for the help

Dude what are you nuts, CCWing a 1911, I never heard of such a thing.
What you need to do is get yourself a Polish P-64. They are very hard to find though. It's not likely you will get lucky & find one.

Run a few hundred rounds through that short barrel 1911 before trusting your life on it. The shorter the barrel the more peculiar they become. The system works best with the 5". A 4" is pretty safe. They can be very reliable in the shorter lengths but it may take some tuning and break-in to get there. Don't get discouraged. I carry a 4" Kimber. It balked in the beginning but I tuned it and it chews up even H&G 68's like ball now.

You wont regret the Milt Sparks! If you dont like it I will buy it from you. I have a versa maxII on order. I am currently using the excutive companion along with there belt it is a very nice holster I just like the versa max better.

I may have to look into a V Max. I haven't heard anything bad either. I've got 250 to put through it this week. Then Ill put another 250 and see how it does. If it doesn't "get right" or kimber can't get it right before I finish those 500 It will be for the range or get sold and I'm going back to a Glock.

I say get the Taurus "Judge" ..........stoked with #9 shot ........ with the laser sight and tactical sling................ you don't need no stinking holster.

I always wanted to say "stoked."

    "THE JUDGE" ha ha
I havent decided on a holster yet but did get the first 200 down the pipe without any problems. The WWB did a job on it though, thats some dirty rounds. I shot 50 Monarch through it with almost no powder on the frame and after the first 25 WWB my gun was grey. LOL

As far as a holster is concerned, I've spent the last couple weeks researching just about every holster maker I could find.

I was looking for basically a Milt Sparks Versa Max II, but I refuse to wait 6-9 months or whatever it takes to get product from MS.

Eventually, I started seeing a trend of posts over the last few months that pointed to a guy named Tim Thurner. I spoke with him last night to order a reinforced mouth IWB holster and about doing a custom magazine/light pouch (I have a different, larger tailcap on my Surefire G2).

I chose to give my money to him for a few different reasons. His wait time right now is 6-8 weeks. His prices are considerably lower than MS for comparable work (again, that's what I've read all over the net). And he shows his support of military by offering a small discount to those of us on active duty.

There are other, lesser known holster makers out there who are just as good as the big names like MS and Mitch Rosen but without the wait.

BTW, the CTAC is a decent IWB holster. I carry my G23 in it comfortably for hours on end. But I'm looking for something even MORE comfortable, which I've been assured leather is.

Of course, YMMV and all that **** ...
