Front sight post paint

I want to paint the front sight post of my 1911 RO (and maybe some of my other guns) a bright red to make it much faster to pick up. I know there paints available that are marketed just for this purpose, but is there something I can pick up at Hobby Lobby or something that will do the job just as well?

Nail polish works great. There is some type of fluorescent paint as well that is supposed to work great.

You can buy Testors paint at Wal Mart which comes in a package with ten colors and it works great.
Follow 357's advise about the white coat first.

I've used whiteout with great success. Much better than white paint IMO.
I always painted the whiteout fluorescent orange.

Want to really make it stand out. Try having a fiber optic front sight installed. It's not expensive and you will enjoy it a lot more than paint. Is the front sight in a dove tail on the RO, if so it should be easy to change out.
