    I posted the SKS parts count directly above your post. Also, a stock sks mag only counts as 2 parts as the body and floor plate are a single piece.

    It wasn't when I opened the thread on my phone sorry. And the removable mag will add a part to the total count and that's what everyone is talking about.

    i can still see it ;)

    nice meeting you today, stop by anytime !

    Well. one of them anyway. I had an old beat-up paratrooper that needed some flair, so away I went. It's always been a great shooter, absolutely reliable and hits what I aim for.

    Original configuration;

    Butt-ugly, ain't it?

    Now with a Tapco stock set and Walther red-dot with VFG;

    OK, now it's kinda cool, but it needed more, so..............

    Out comes the Krylon!!

    I would have went with the Lucky Charms paint job...just saying.

    Magically Delicious?

    While not a fan of altered SKS's (just saying I like my milsurp as issued), I'll admit that I like the look of your blaster. And why not mod it the way you want it? American as apple pie that.

    Thanks for the gun porn.

    This is a link to the page where I got the design idea for my backyard camo paint job. I tried to get close to the Rhodesian, but without real stencils, it's pot luck freestyle. I'm too cheap to buy their kit and paint, so I get what I got.

    Which ones do ya'll like?

    Plastic prep is pretty easy. Get something agressive to remove any mold release and grease/oil that may be on there. Auto body supply stores can sell you what you need, or use denatured alcohol and wipe it plenty.

    Scuff the entire area to be painted with a red scuff (scotchbrite) pad.

    Wipe off again with prepsol/alcohol

    I like to use a plastic adhesion promoter, like bulldog. It is clear and opens up the plastic a little for better paint adhesion.

    The krylon fusion supposedly sticks to plastic well, I would use bulldog as well, just to be safe.

    How do I know this???? Well I paint cars, and have to paint all manners of plastic parts, from vinyl to hard plastic. My preference would be to skip the spray bomb and use polyester basecoat with hardener in it, nice flat finish that is decently abrasion resistant.

    Any ???s

    PAPA, that sks looks good. Waiting on the sheric (sp?) bullpup stock for one of mine, but might have to spring for a tapco for the other... Would like a side folding ar style stock though...Might have to mod the tapco to achieve that!!!

    Thanks for all the positive comments, ya'll.

    JD, You being a professional painter would been appauled at the "prep" I took with this paint job. I took a dishrag with a bit of Dawn and wiped the pajor surface areas, dried it off with a kitchen towel and painted that sucker. The WallyWorld KrylonKamo sticks great and doesn't rub off, even after years of use. Here's a pic of a SKS I did about 7yrs ago and the paint is holding up fine;

    That was my first try at backyard camo. That is my "jungle gun" I use for pig hunting in the HI swamp.

    As long as the grease/dirt is gone that is all that matters.

    I am sure some people would be "appauled" at how fast I can paint their car... And After 17yrs I do not have to "take my time to get things right", unless there was alot of crown royal involved the night before!!!! Lucky for me I gave up on that a few years ago, no more "tender" mornings for me!!!

    What is your take on the tapco stock? I have a spare sks and would like to give that stock a try. Looking at the interface on the back of the stock where the "AR-esqu" "buffer tube" mounts it looks pretty easy to fab up a block that would bolt in and allow a hinged adapter like the ace folding stock adapter to be used, with a conventional ar tube and stock...

    And any clue if the collapsible stock that is on the tapco sks kit is in fact the same as the ar stock, ie, could you put it on a ar buffer tube?

    Sorry for all the questions, just thinking out my next gun build...

    I'll going to hire an artist with an airbrush to paint for guns. Instead of engraving I'll have all kings of crazy sh!t going on.

    I really like the T6 stock on the SKS. I think a folder would give you a shorter overall gun, but I like the length of the gun with the stock completely collapsed. Somethings making me want to say that the Tapco stock isn't the same as a std AR, I don't believe there's room for a spring. Somebody makes a folding, collapsable stock, but I think that it is for a 10/22 only. Remember, the SKS uses a one-piece stock.

    JD, I would be happy to swing by someday with the rifle and let you finger-fu@k it. It's already lost it's innocence, so no need for a rubber (glove, I mean).:D

    HEHE, I do have some gloves, and I think it may be best that I wear them, no idea where you have had that rifle....

    If you could stop by that would be great, will be nice to see your handiwork in person!!!

    Dude I took my ambien and then poured a glass of wine without thinking. I don't even remember posting this. I'm sorry if the tone was ugly.
