What is the difference between a $20 gas block and one that costs $50? As stated in another thread I'm going to install a FF handguard and I'm going to need a lo-pro gas block but I can't tell the difference between them. As long as I get one with the correct ID I should be ok shouldn't I? Or does the higher cost one offer something the others don't?

I've used MI and WC lo-pro blocks. The cost difference was nearly 2x, the MI being higher. No difference in quality, both were very nicely machined, both worked excellently.
My original AR did not have the A2 sight/block, so I had no choice but remove it. But as it has been stated by others, you might just be best off cutting off the sight part, and leave the block part intact and attached. Nothing holds a block in place better than the tapered roll pins holding your present sight/block, so why change it? And if you remove the sight part you will find the remaining block to be very low profile.
