Ok so I'm thinking this train is diverting from "make a stand and force the governement to do something other than status quo nudging" to seperatist wierdness. They are "convening a common law grand jury". I'm thinking this wont end well.

On another point of interest what do y'all think of the reports of FBI possing as protestors and malitia. Little too tin foilly or did the fire chief stumble on a little government provocateuring?

stupid bogus charges too, impeding person in Law enforcement..
That tells me that it was a federal guy who shot and killed a squatter, if it was the other way around it would be a whole list of charges..

So, is the dead guy a patriot in your minds??

No, he is a fool that died trying to make himself a martyr. Do I agree with the government's position on this case? No, but this guy was on a fools errand. Again..... When the guys you are standing up for don't even stand up for themselves, what does that say?

I differ in opinion, I think he was on a fool's errand , Yes. But I do not think he was trying to make himself a martyr.. You may know something I do not , However and I only know that they chose a poorly timed and poorly executed plan to stand on.. Now, in reality I have to pick my battles too, but I have to shake a man's hand who stands on his principles when I do not have the balls or the ability.

I wasnt there when he was shot, but when you say the only way you are leaving is in a bag. You punch your own ticket.

I will withhold any judgement for now. I am in agreement with the ideals that these guys claim they believe in, and the fact that they have shed light on massive overreach was a great success. Worth dieing for? That is up to them. Personally I have too much to live for and we need to in a reasoned, methodical manner force the government back in to the box our founders created for them. We gave up ground a little at a time and people never noticed, and as people become aware we want it fixed over night. And constitutionally there is nothing wrong with that thought, but in a time were the constitution is ignored on the best day we have to steer the masses towards freedom. If we can accomplish that we win the war.

I would like to know what lead to the shooting, whether it was an agent with a itchy trigger finger or if the deceased pulled a firearm or fired first. With this being such a media frenzy, my guess is if the agent shot without probably cause it will get swept under the rug...

I do not have any sympathy for them. They are making gun owners look bad. They chose the wrong venue for this fight. Even if they had fought the Feds legally and failed, they would still be sitting in a better position.

Reading through this I cant help but think...
If there would have been internet forums in 1765-1776, what would have been said.

I'm sure the people who were involved in the situations 11 years prior to the Declaration of Independence, weren't as well spoken about as the ones who signed it years later. Using the Revolution as an example simply for the span of time.

Now is this a comparison, who knows, I don't think so... we will have to wait some course of years. as the past has shown us, Americans are generally detached from actions of the Federal Government. More so today with our Electronically connected, but realistically disconnected population.
Most Americans, as with most of this boards members, wont give two craps about Federal action unless it effects their internet.

If tomorrows news includes video of an Agent shooting this guy with his hands up (the Feds have led the way forcing local PD to release videos) then I can easy see a situation where hundreds show up in support of the Militia... this would give them some form of legitimacy and we all know the Feds wont stand for it.

End of the day, I honestly hope he provoked the incident, cooler heads prevail, and some of these guns end the standoff and pursue this full force in court.

Using you as an example, not personal...

I can see this being a go to comment with regards to the mob of 1770 on King St. in Boston. Just saying.
