How did you give it that worn in look? Sand paper?

Very Light duty sand paper and scotch brite along with on alcohol influenced strategics
Thanks. I'll give it a try. So 600 grain or like 1000?

Back in '83 while serving with 3rd Mar. Div. in Okinawan we had M16A1s with both the 3 prong and birdcage flash hiders.I may be wrong but I believe the M16A1 did not have a 3 prong flash hider. Slick side M16s did have the 3 prong flash hider.

That just goes to show that the Army always got new things to play with and the Marines had to suffer budget cuts. LOL! The M16A1 I carried in Okinawan wasn't even a Colt. It was made by Hydramatic (General Motors)All the M16A1's I had in the Army had birdcage. In the 72,73,74 era
Don't know if you were going for a particular era, but other than the flash hider, that looks just like what I had at Benning in '85. I remember then, looking at it and thinking, "what a pos.."...but it still shot.
And the slings were black then.
Very nicely done
Thanks! I just need to shoot it more often.... i wonder how it would do with a 22 drop in conversion kit with the 1 in 12" twist rate?
Just have to comment.
I was at Benning in '85 as well (Harmony Church.)
Wonder if we met...
And yeah, I used the same Vietnam era M16s they provided us with.
Went bang every time even though it looked like it should have been retired long ago.
Those were the days.
That is one nice looking rifle. I too am currently working slowly and I mean slowly on a Vietnam era build... mine just has more parts. Engine and trans are done. Now on to the body. I'm sure someone here will recognize what it's out of.
