If you get the G42 and sell the G26, then you will end up buying another G26 sometime down the road. The G26 is the kind of gun you always go back to if you remain a Glock fan. They are just too handy and take the greatest variety of mags out there(I love that G18 33 round mag!)

Agree. If you can keep both, do it. I have a G19 that I consider my main carry weapon. But I do carry my G43 quite a bit depending on where i'll be going, what I'll be doing, attire, etc.

Biggest advantage of the G42 that I see is that it's small enough and light enough to slip into your pocket. But There may be days/nights when you wish you had that double stack G26 to carry.

    I'm listening ...

My 42 is for when I'm strolling around my town where there are ample middle class folks that rarely see crime. It's nice not to have worry about getting in a shootout with Dindu Nuffins and his pals or having to look over my shoulder as I walk back to my car. If I'm going down into the infected areas like NOLA, I'll be carrying something with a few extra rounds. With my 17 and a spare mag, that's 35 rounds of 9mm vs. 13 rounds of .380 with my G42 and a spare.

Don't buy a G42 if you're looking for an end-all/be-all carry gun. The 42 has its place, but a 19 would be a better everyday gun if you only want one.

Interesting thread.... I just bought a G42 a couple weeks ago. Haven't carried it yet and was just able to put 50 rounds through it yesterday. It fed and felt great. No problems at all. I had read where earlier models had feeding issues but Glock seemed to have ironed all that out.
Ill likely put some sort of night sites on it but the stock ones are ok. Before I shot it, I did the usual disassembly, cleaning polishing, lubing. I really like it so far.
My usual carry is an old school S&W model 60 snubbie.... So the six round 42 is a high cap gun to me. LOL!!

Why? You shouldn't be polishing anything.

Not sure why not.... I always do a detailed strip and light polish of all mating surfaces. I use Flitz or other metal polishes that are similar. Been doing that for decades on any pistol I have.
Out the box most guns could use it.

I have a 42 and it's my primary carry gun when I'm not at work. It's a great gun and real easy to shoot. With that being said, with shootings becoming more and more of an everyday thing, I have been looking into selling my 27 that sits in the safe and getting another 19....

Purchasing a Gen 4 G19 would be a wise move if you can find anyone that wants a G27.

More often than not, a new pistol will have feed issues if not cleaned, polished and lubed before shooting. All my pistols have polished feed ramps and chambers and all run flawlessly.

I clean, lube, inspect my pistols before use but Do Not Polish the feed ramps. Over 100,000 9mm rounds fired over many years without a pistol malfunction.
I do not use garbage ammunition as many do because it is cheaper. I prefer Gold Dot or HST for defensive use and Lawman or American Eagle for range use.

My G19 get's cleaned about once a year and I'll shoot anything through it . Never an issue . I won't carry a gun that can't handle that kind of use .

That copper lube on a Glock is there for a reason. Do what you want, but I'll say that you are wasting your time and doing more harm than good.

I would consider a G42 in place of my LCP for formal occasions, gym pants, or any situation that would force me to put a gun in my pocket.....I don't like putting guns in my pocket! The LCP was good for that application but a PIA to shoot. G42 seems slightly bigger and heavier to facilitate better shooting. My main EDC year round and 24/7 is my G26 unless faced with the aforementioned situations.
