reminds me of a recent thread where someone was distraught over a holstered gun. must have thought he was a crack head.

Anyway, the tackler should go to jail for assault, that was very uncalled for. Anyone else? hard to say. What would you do if someone was holding someone down and a gun was on the floor and they said "help me, he has a gun?" No telling what a bystander saw or walked into.

This is a perfect example of why I would rarely get involved in a situation where I was not in danger, and the other people were people I did not know. Is one of them a LEO? Drug dealer? Who knows?

You are absolutely correct. I may have grabbed the gun if it was just laying on the floor though just to get it out of the situation and into my control;)

Heck yeah, if there was a gun laying around, I would probably grab it. But then again, what if it was a LEO's gun, and LEO testifies that he would not have been shot by the attacker if I had not taken his gun... I am not a lawyer or LEO, so don't know how that would end. My theory would be to take my people to a safe place, call 911, be a good, armed witness.

How do we know who is good or goblin? And do you want to take that chance, using deadly force with people you don't know? Me, no. I catch some grief on some forums for my thoughts on using a gun around people I don't know. But, I thought this out, and stand by my tactics. Others may have a different view.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. If I see two people hugging it out on the floor, well, not my problem. I would get out, call the police, and give a statement. I am not a hero. I'm just not sure I agree with other statements made that the other people should go to jail as well. Did they do the right thing? Not in my opinion. Did they do something criminal? I would have to know more.

It is one tough question when your answer might be a bullet. It is hard, it is harsh. Reality is a bitch.

If I see two strangers on the floor, I would back off, call 911.

Suppose the CC'r was an off duty LEO of any sort...

And to fault the CC'r, it's either open carry or "concealed" carry.
If you're carrying concealed, no one should know but you. And maybe the Mrs.

Good point. Did anybody say it, yet: "Concealed means concealed"? This guy did not seem to be legally carrying, IMO, but I don't think the tackler shoulda' tackled.
