O.K If you've seen my earlier posts, I've started reloading for a 7mm mag. I've been reloading pistol ammo for a while, but since 7mm mag is $25-55 a box of 20, I thought it best to start reloading that.

So I do all the prep, measure powder, seat the bullet and measure. Everything is fine. I go to the range load the ammo and click...bang. It's a long enough pause that when I fired the first round, I pulled the trigger click, started to pull my head from behind the scope and bang. Now we're talking about 1/3 to 1/2 a second. Now I fired about 20 rounds and the same thing happened on all. I got used to it and the rounds hit perfectly and are accurate. So what might be the problem.

DAMN!!!!! CCI #250 not #200  Well I guess that's my issue. Gonna head to Bass Pro to get a pack of 100.

So who wants to buy 900 CCI #200 Large Rifle Primers for $35.00. Paid $39.99 not including tax and used one pack.

What percentage of the case volume is that charge filling? Your powder should fill at least 75 - 80 %.
If not, you'll never get consistency.

    I'll skip the chemistry/physics lesson.

Factory ammo (winchester shot 3150 fps)
    H414 at 55 gr = 2758
    H414 at 57 gr = 2880
    H414 at 58 gr = 2993

and the powder is filling 78% of the casing, I measured it with my caliper.

The ammo shot true as can be. I was hitting a small diamond of the sighting target at 50 yds each and every time. Its just the delay in the ignition that had me worried. I just bought some #250 large rifle magnum primers, gonna make about 10 rounds and see how that does.

NOTE: ANYTHING YOU BUY FROM BASS PRO FROM THE RELOADING ISLES, ENSURE YOU AREN'T GETTING RIPPED OFF. I FOUND PACKS OF PRIMERS WITH HALF MISSING, AND CASES WITH ONE AND TWO PACKS MISSING.

Im at Precision now and it WAS a primer issue. Used magnum primers and absolutely no problem. There was no lag or delay in ignition in 12 rounds fired. Still have to chrono though. Thanks for the help everyone.

If you decide to change your load and ditch the ball powder, I recomend either h or imr 4350. It is a very forgiving and accurate powder, and I have never had issues of it acting up with regular or magnum primers in any weather in my 7 mag.
