Prepare for world ending event.
Me and Pangris agree again!!!!
The Millennium Pro series have a pretty good trigger. They now pre-cock when the slide is racked, the reset is short, and breaks fairly well.
The older model Millennium pistols had a long hard pull, but they seemed to have fixed that. The only problem I can see for a new shooter, the controls are spaced too close together. In a high stress situation, with little or no training, it could be likely that person would get the slide lock confused with one of the other controls.
The magazines are a little pricey but not as high as a Sig or HK factory mag.
Anything mechanical can break down. I've seen plenty of glocks fail in my time. The funniest one ever was the little slide lock spring broke in a G23. The guy racked his slide to show clear, released the slide, and it went flying off the frame into the dirt.
Nothing is "perfect". And don't get me started on the 1911.

I've got a little experience in that as well.....
Would I buy a Taurus for the range? Sure why not...maybe some day they'll make something I'm interested in.
Would I buy a Taurus to protect myself or my family? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllll no.
To the OP: it's just tough love man. Friends don't let friends buy shitty firearms. Alot of these guys have "been there done that"....twice. If you bang a girl and get crabs, aren't you gonna warn your friends about her?
And for the record, the Taurus has crabs AND gonorrhea.

^ Not gonna disagree...
Other people's info makes a good starting point/guidelines though...
If Taurus is "known" for manufacturing such poor quality products, then possibly you have had personal experience. It may benefit a new shooter if they understood why Taurus firearms are such poor quality, specific to make or model. Or,as I understand it here, the general quality of ALL Taurus firearms are poor period.
A pretty broad statement that all Taurus firearms are of such low quality and even less reliability. I guess the other folks that have posted here, that have purchased Taurus, are a lucky few that have had no problems. Uhm... statistcally speaking of course.
