Both Little Saigon and Saigon Noodle at Sherwood and Florida are good places to go. The staff is helpful for the unfamiliar.

    That is all...carry on.

    :)

Yes, Little Saigon is next to BR. It used to be across the street in Saigon Noodle's location, but they had to move. Both are very good.

I like Dream Berrie on Sherwood. Once you are don you can grab frozen yogurt. It is close to Little Saigon, but haven't tried it yet. I have heard good things about it.

Compared to Chinese food, what's the difference?
Do you have any suggestions on what to try for a first timer?

It's night and day different. For the first timer, just try Pho Tai, it's the famous beef broth soup, for rice dishes get Com Thit Nuong, it's white rice with grilled pork. You have to try the fish sauce with the rice and meat. The sandwiches are good too.

Would not work for me as I do not do soup, or fish sauce and only eat white rice with gravy or beans..

I can take or leave most Vietnamese food, but I start drooling whenever I get close to the Vietnamese bakery in Michoud (Dong Phong).

The most significant Vietnamese sandwich is the bahn mi. It uses crusty French bread, that came to Vietnam during the French occupation, traditionally pork pâté, pickled carrots, cucumbers, and cilantro. It often has chili sauce, cheese, or other meats as well. Soooooo good.

My two favorite Vietnamese dishes you can find locally are pho and bahn mi.

    I would agree.

The most confusing part is going to be when they bring out the 'vegetable' tray for the Pho. This is just something (bean sprouts, peppers, basil leaves and or cilantro) that you add to the soup at the table. Ask your waiter what to do, they are usually very helpful.

Bun Chiao Giao (spelling??) Is really good also. Sliced Vietnamese egg rolls over a noodle and vegetable salad with a great sweet and slightly spicy sauce. Its very good.
