I had an Apache guy tell me one time that they routinely have to tell the Chinook guys to slow down so they can keep up.

A helo surviving a point-blank shot by an rpg is pretty incredible, even striking a non-critical place like the ramp. It doesn't say if there were any troops inside, but if there were, it's really incredible that none were killed. I think the short writeup of that video should mention something along the lines of "lucky fukkers" more than "a testament to training and technology".

Yep we were told the same. They always had to WAIT for the escorts.

    CH-47 Chinook - 196 mph
    AH-64 Apache - 176 mph
    AH-1 Cobra - 141 mph

Was that a guy falling out of the ramp when they took the RPG?

Edit: Never mind, I think it's just a sheet of metal.

I was in one that was picking up my 18,000lbs dozer, it inhaled a trash bag thru the left engine and put the flame out. We set down fast!
I also Was on an investigation/parts recovery ov a similar dozer that they dropped from 4000'.

I've done that as the #2 man multiple times at the Coxswain Course. SCARY!!! The helo looks MUCH lower than it actually is in the water and the blades feel like they are inches off your head. I also almost got my arm tore off once due to the driver being too far right while entering. But we did it in CH-46's, not 47's. ;)

    Good Times for sure!

not as fun as SPIE Rigging though :p that **** gave me the hibby jibby's
