The XDMs are striker fired and are single action only. They may call it "safe action" or something similar, and it is similar to the Glock action. Every trigger pull is the same.

It is somewhere between double action and single action, but I find it to be a very light trigger pull for a gun with no manual safety. It does have a grip safety and a trigger safety, both of which need to be depressed for the weapon to fire.

xd/xdm are fully cocked with every cycle of the trigger. The trigger only releases the sear when pulled. For this reason they are considered single action only. Yes they have a trigger safety similar to glocks, and a grip safety. Damn good guns in my opinion.

I've got a .40 XDm and 2k rounds through it and not a problem. Nice trigger release alot like a glock. Super smooth and exactly the same break every time.

I loved my XD45 Service when I had it. Great trigger, very low recoil for a .45, and 13 rounds of it too. :D I wouldn't mind getting another, but I love my 92fs too much to trade it away.

I looked at them at Hebert Guns. I'm in love.:bravo::heart: I think the lighter weight vs the all steel 96A1 is a benefit to a one armed shooter.

I do not believe the XDM is fully cocked by the cycling of the slide. If you look closely, or put your finger on the "striker status indicator", as you pull the trigger it comes a little further out. This indicates to me that that a little extra tension is being put on the striker spring.

While the trigger pull is much closer to a single action than anything else, I don't believe it is entirely single action.

Don't really want to argue, but do a Google search for xd/xdm as far if they are single action. I have heard that these guns were banned from certain shooting events because they are considered single action only because the trigger just drops the sear. Here's a quote from shooting times review of the xdm.

"The semiauto mechanism is a familiar Browning-type cam-ramp, tilt-barrel system with noncockable striker- fired ignition mechanism that requires a partial rearward motion of the slide--approximately 3/4 inch--to ready the system. The XDM is therefore legally a single-action trigger design because its trigger only performs one function: releasing the firing mechanism. The 5.5- to 7.7-pound XDM trigger may feel like a DAO (double action only), but it is not."
