Here's a nice follow up. I had attempted to let McDonald's corporate know about this but their contact form has a character restriction. So in the text box I just tell them I'd like to send tell them about my experience but the form is limiting and to contact me if they want the story. So I get a more or less form mail but one that does address my concern about character limits. They tell me I can call a number, mail a postal letter or email them through this link (which is not actually true). I'm not jumping through hoops to help them out so I just reply back with my text. That email bounces. Today I get a postal letter from Valluzzo Management saying my comments would be addressed "promptly and appropriately". Since I gave no comments this was clearly a BS form letter. But here's the kicker. In the envelope they gave me a business card coupon for a free dollar menu item. Oh, boy! I guess the "we don't give a sh#t" attitude goes all the way up the food chain. Not surprising as I did read this forum post online.

The MCD located in Denham Springs on 16 N by Canes is no better. If you order more than two orders on Sunday morning , you are screwed.
Mother in law insisted I go there to get breakfast for all while we were visiting. I suggested Krispy Kreme donuts and milk. She would not hear of it. Knowing the drive thru would be a bad choice, I went inside. Got home, 25% of the order either wrong or not there. Went back, stood in a long line to discuss and tell them the story. I had to repeat the story the crew chief and then repeat the story to the manager. He didn't want to believe me and asked where was the entire order. I told him people were eating, food was getting cold, I had went home and came back. He wanted to argue, I leaned across the counter and explained I had no pleasure coming back to MCD to fix his screw up and get it fixed now. They attempted to correct. Waited a long time and it was still screwed up. I asked the manager what is the problem. He just shook his head and looked down with no comment. He attempted to put it together and get me out of his face. The bag sat on the counter for a long time while they were working other orders. I told him don't bother, just refund my money. The food was cold and I had attempted to get breakfast for almost an hour. He told me I had accepted the food in the bag on the counter and he couldn't refund it. I used some serious adjectives in front of his church crowd, and reminded him he screwed this up and told him at that point it was going to be bad for him and to rethink his decision. He quickly reconsidered and opened the register.

Three months later, I was visiting again and mother in law insisted MCD for breakfast on Sunday morning. I gave everyone three items of which to pick, no variation, no special orders, nothing but menu items. They were pissed. Went to MCD ordered from the lobby. When the food was pushed out, I unloaded it on the counter, made them correct their mistakes immediately and pretty much stopped their process until they got it right. While I wasn't happy, I got it done.

Oh yeah, there will never ever, I repeat, ever, be MCD on Sunday breakfast when I visit.

Can't screw up a couple of dozen Krispy Kremes and milk.

I called couyons in Port Allen last night and tried to order 32oz of rice dressing, which is how it's listed on the site for $9. The first employee tells me they don't sell that much at a time, then a I speak to another employee who assured me that the site hasn't been updated in a while and the menu/prices have changed. He said it only comes in a cup, a pint, a quart, or a gallon...so I took the quart, for $9...

Years ago, my Wife went to a Popeye's, and tells the girl she would like a quarter roasted chicken. To which the girl responded, "I'm sorry, it only comes in one forth or one half" I'm not making this up!!!! Another time at BK the computers were down and it took the cashier, yeah right, cashier, a calculator to figure out she owed me seven cents. and they're allowed to vote!!!!

I'm far more distressed that they are encouraged to reproduce.

The problem there was you were talking ounces and they don't know the metric system :)

Running joke between me and my boss. He will ask me to load some 60" vinyl in the printer, I tell him we are out of 60", will 5' material work? Amazing how many people this confuses. One person even tried to argue about it. Sad, what they don't teach in skrools these days.

My buddy tells a story about how he and his friends ordered a 12 slice large pizza but asked it to be cut into 8 slices because they knew they wouldn't be able to eat 12. The workers didn't get the joke.

Phft! Try working at a bank and trying to talk to people about their money...and then attempting to get them to understand basic math. Oh, and don't even get me started on interest calculations or debits and credits. It is like explaining how to put together a rocket engine it seems.

Last time I asked a Popeye's drive through employee for a 1/2 chicken....that was beyond her comprehension. She could only comprehend chicken sales in "pieces"

3 piece....8 piece family...etc. I'm not even sure she realized what a 1/2 chicken was.

Just get the 4 piece and stop harassing the high school dropouts.

My technicians barely make 10 dollars an hour, have licensure that has to be up kept with continuing education yearly along with fees. They have to pass back ground checks and believe it or not, can't owe too much in student loans. All while dealing with the headache of a short staffed retail atmosphere. And some of them do not make 10 dollars an hour. Also they are around over a million dollars worth of inventory with control substances.

So when I think if fast food employees wanting so much, I think why?

Folks had best get over this dumbing down of the American fast food worker because it ain't getting better anytime soon. And if you really want to be scared for tomorrow, think about where all these kids in school today are going to find decent jobs in the future.

As for your orders getting messed up at Mc Donald's? Why do you think the menu board is numbered? You don't ask a plow horse to step over cow **** in the field.

    This is how it works:

    1. Customer sees menu board.
    2. Customer sees picture of item they want.
    3. Customer sees number next to picture of what they want.
    4. Customer tells worker what number they want.
    5. Workers (through repetition), attempt to assemble picture.

    How it doesn't work:

    1. Customer does not ask worker to go outside the lines. If adding mustard to a Big Mac Meal (#1 on the Board BTW), is not in the picture; do not attempt!

It's funny to hear about sometimes. Best one I had happened to me twice. Both times I the hamburger didn't have patties in them! Needless to say, I was so angry, I had to laugh at the stupidity being brought up in this world. *mini rant over*

Since this thread will descend into this anyway, here's a memory from way back in the '80's.

I was working on Broad and Canal in New Orleans and for lunch I decided to walk across the street to the McDonalds. Back in the day they had the original fried Mc Chicken sandwich and I must admit it was not bad. Again, back in the day.

So, as I am sitting there by myself in the restaurant I proceed to unwrap my McChicken. As I take my first bite and right across from me at an adjacent table I see a little black kid. He must have been about 4-5 years old. As I am masticating my first bite, I watch in utter horror as the kid grabs the salt shaker and starts to lick at the top like it was a lollipop. And I mean big long wet licks! He was really enjoying it. Well, needless to say; my lunch had abruptly ended.

I have NEVER been able to get that image out of my mind, and absolutely cannot go into ANY fast food restaurant or casual dining restaurant without thinking about that.

    Ah, memories!
