I flew to Minnesota last September and I forgot I had 3 live .223 rounds in the bottom of my backpack and I made it all the way through without a single word being said about it. I discovered them as I was repacking to head out to the Boundary Waters at the hotel where we were staying. On the way back it was a different story. I accidentally left 2 multi tools in my back pack and they scooped those up very quickly. At some airports they have a mailing station at this point ( at least I've been told that) where you can mail these type items back to yourself. I think all of these items like this that they confiscate are either split up between the TSA agents after work or they are sold by the Feds to make money. There should be a process in place where you can get these items back. I knew better though and it was my fault, as I'm not trying to to say it wasn't but you should be able to pay postage and have these items mailed to you.

I fly overseas every month and have to deal with TSA on a constant basis. I can honestly say Ive never had a bad experience with them. And believe me... I have been looking for reasons to hate this agency. What aggravates me WAAAAAY more than the TSA is the stupid people that go through metal detectors and scanners with earrings, watches, belts, rings, cell phones, money clips, and every other dangly thing that they KNOW they shouldnt be wearing through there in the first place. And again these same people wait till they are next to go through the scanners, then they realize they still have their laptops still in their bag along with water bottles, and tons of other bullsh1t. So they hold up everyone while they remove their stuff when they KNOW they had to do that in the first place. Im sorry to say, but its mostly women that do this.

^^^FWIW, Leaving, they told me to hold onto my wallet, and the machine had a drawing of a guy holding a wallet above his head in it. On the way home, they scolded me for holding onto my wallet. How am I supposed to know what they want? I don't fly much but the rules seem different every time I do

Does it bother anyone else how unprofessional TSA is and how there are no uniform standards whatsoever? Some guys have long hair and beards, some have ear rings, and others are grossly overweight. I know they aren't true law enforcement but If they are going to be wearing a badge, shouldn't they be held to some standard?

Is just me or does it drive yall crazy too?

TSA is a joke, and is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the american people. It does nothing to prevent the true threats, and is a hilariously ineffective dog and pony show to make the masses feel warm and fuzzy. Moreover, its a pile of thieves and molesters having their way with anyone they want. If you can't tell, I had a rough encounter (in lafayette actually), which ended up in me losing my cool and threatening the agent. it panned out okay, but could have gone pretty ugly. She clearly told me she was patting my 1 year old down, (a napping baby that could barely walk) and that if my wife didnt put her camera away we'd be arrested.

I'll not repeat what I said and did because I'm not proud of it, but I lost my cool and she wasn't expecting the response she got. Short version: No one touched my child, no one wore handcuffs, and we made our flight fine.

anyhow, I fly privately now. I wear my gun, carry what I want on the plane, and order a pizza or bring a bottle of wine for the flight. it's so worth it. - if you can stomach small jets and low altitudes.

Any noticeable unprofessionalism and unkempt dressing habits by TSA (yet another government bureaucracy with uncontestable power over civilians), is just part of the dressing down of societies work ethics, pride, duty, etiquette, and a host of other manners and civil tenets that people are allowing to be dashed as excuses for those that are morons whom refuse or cannot learn to adapt to what once was commonplace in the US.

Look at the abhorrent example phony liberals and scumbag politicians put forth themselves. The only thing they excel at is stealing and lying. And the Free Shitters follow lock, stock, and barrel.

And of course they have merged together many other agencies as well as the Coast Guard to ensure the DHS is now (Too big to fail). Dont think for 1 second that our Govt is foolish or stupid. They know exactly what they are doing, and are VERY good at it.

It bothers me that they infringe upon my right to not be illegally searched every time I get on a plane, therefore it bothers me that the TSA exists.

Now I'm all against tsa also. However, that is not a right. You have a right to move freely about the country. The methods are not a right. Driving, flying, etc, are privileges. Unfortunately, by using those methods to move about, you agree to the terms set since it's not a right.

I do believe we have the right to not be butt raped by them and to be treated with respect. And to be able to not have our **** stolen.

So you wouldn't mind sitting next to Mohammed and his wife the beekeeper (or use whatever society, culture, or group that like to blow planes up or hijack them) who also weren't searched? Because like it or not they will share the same rights as you and will be able to carry anything they like.
TSA has nothing to do with the 4th amendment. They operate under administrative search procedures.

You have a point, but they go too far when they subject the 88 year old WW2 vet to a body search. How many vets have hijacked planes at all? We know the kind of people who do that, and they were not born in the United States.
Even William Shatner was taken to the side once. I guess they though he was going to steal the plane the way he stole the Enterprise in "Star Trek 3."

Oh indeed. I do not mean to defend the stupid things they do. Everyone on this forum that has a legitimate job uses some sort of flow chart whether on paper or in ones mind. If "yes" go to step x kind of thing. I agree it is ridiculous but if you met a random person on the street what would you believe coming from their mouth? There is a system that they use and the line is hard to define on what makes sense and when you violated someone's "rights". Unfortunately TSA can't scrutinize the people we think are suspicious and send everyone else in another line.

Going offshore via helicopter, has gotten ridiculous.
    Same crap.
One heliport has it's way of doing things, compared to the next.
Monday they do things a certain way, Tuesday, something totally different...
One even requires a **** test before you go out, where just a few months ago, they did not.
    Stupid...

No, I would not mind sitting next to Mohamed and his family, and yes they would have the same rights as me. TSA has everything to do with the 4th, no matter what government agency writes the procedures if those procedures state that we are to be illegally searched without probable cause. It's spelled out so clearly that a fifth grader could understand the language. I'm not someone who's willing to trade my freedom for security, because as Ben Franklin said, you will lose both and deserve neither.

I'd prefer to not see the gov't in charge of security at airports, but rather the people with the most skin in the game...the airline companies.
