Texas met the requirement for a comment from the President.... The petition doesn't do anything other than ask for the president to comment on the issue, and they have weaseled out of answering other petitions before by saying you should ask the State Government, or it is not the decision the President would make.

i wonder what percent of "our boys" (military) come from red states, IE, Texas & Louisiana?
ALOT from Louisiana and Texas. Every other guy I met on active duty was from Texas. I dunno if that was a time frame thing and has changed now but from 2000-2004 sure was that way. All my boys are in Louisiana now.

I signed it as John Doe. I also had my girlfriend, Jane Doe, sign it too. Yes, we have the same last names and aren't married. No, we are not brother and sister :)

They have your IP address which they can track to your ISP which they can subpoena to get the account information and your real name if they so choose.

Do you think if Louisiana would leave the U.S. we would not get any "free" stuff from Uncle Sam. Then those folks would have to move to another state that gets the "free" stuff from the government. Gee we wouldn't have any more food stamps, welfare section 8, free phones ect. folks would have to move. Might be the way to go?

What about the folks who put into social security all their lives and are approaching retirement age? What about the disabled veterans that can't work to earn a living and are taken care of by the federal government? What about the people who served that are in college now which is being paid by the government for their service? I know secession isn't going to happen but there are people who deserve the "free" stuff from the government because they earned that stuff and it wasn't free for them.

Louisiana is at 27,350 votes which is above the 25k threshold. The president doesn't even comment though, one of the assistants do. You can look at past responses here - https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/responses and all of them are canned copy pasta of a generic template with a few changes here and there.

I like this petition response about Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio - https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/response/rush-limbaugh-and-armed-forces-radio

How much of the federal debt do each of us owe? How much more are we going to owe in four years?
Seceding would get us out of that debt.

How much money do we pay in federal taxes? Add them ALL up...
Seceding would get us out of those taxes.

Our money is being taken from us and spent in the "blue" parts of the country.
Seceding would let us keep our money.

We could become the richest country in the world. We could provide for ourselves and prosper.

    What say you?

Louisiana has a lot of signatures, but there are many from other states, not just LA. Do the out of state signatures count?

The Texas economy is probably more dependent on the federal government than any other state. They may think they want out, but their politicians know where their bread is buttered.

I do not consider the people you have descibed are getting "free" stuff. In my opinion they have earned the benifits they receive. I'm talking about the folks that have an attitude that everyone "owes" them. I think the elderly and the military should be taken care of first. A lot of times I think they are treated as second class citizens. My Father-in law served in WWII and had to drive himself to Pineville for medical treatment by the VA, while other folks get a blue bus pick them up at their front door to go down the road to the parish health unit, then just sit on the porch and drink beer when they got back. I felt him and other veterans should receive better care. JMO.

We have a problem with paying people 3X more than what they paid into the system. Defined benefits plans DO NOT WORK. Defined contribution plans do work! The reason the Government doesn't want defined contribution plans is they build real wealth, generational wealth. SS is a Ponzi scheme, it will crash, when it does it will be bad. I would much rather have an option to opt out or privatize my SS account.

25,000 votes by December 7th? Well, what happens now, we passed that mark this morning

What happens now is some White House employee is going to type up a little paragraph about how the country is doing fine and there's no reason for states to secede and how it takes more than 1% of the state's population to be taken seriously

Hypothetically, What if Texas seceded from the U.S., and Mexico (with their cartels onboard.), Central America and Cuba (with Russia and China onboard.) decided to reclaim the republic of Texas for Mexico, what would the outcome be? Hypothetically?
