Freedom GROUP, owns Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, Marlin, etc, etc. They might be buying up lots of supply, but its not to be malicious. BCG's, barrels, forged uppers & Lowers, etc have always been hard to get. Spikes' biggest issue is the fact they don't really stock all that much, never seem to order enough, and can't ever get ahead of the curve. Lots of companies are in the same situation, however. RRA, YHM, Spike's, and everyone else always have a hard time getting inventory. They however generally sell directly to the customer. Companies like Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington, etc have bigger financial backing and can afford additional overhead if needed at times to keep supply lines full. They have large purchase orders they need to try to fill ASAP for distributors, so perhaps they have more at stake. If I were in Spike's situation, I'd buy at least 3 months worth of BCG's and other essential parts at a time, but that aint me ;).

Hopefully they won't be waiting on BCG's much longer.

Thanks for clearing this up for me. The conversation that I had with the guy from Spike's the other day was fairly brief, and I was driving at the time so it was hard to fully concentrate on everything he was saying. I thought I remembered Freedom as owning a few gun companies. So basically it is like Spike's and the other smaller companies are competing with the Wal-mart of the gun world, and are being shut out per say because "Walmart" is buying up all the parts before they can get a chance to have their orders filled.

    Gunrelated,

I decided to go with one of the lightweight PSA uppers that PelicanFirearms has for sale. Had nothing to do with your post.

    Update:

Spike's has received some BCG's but there haven't been enough barrels to go around apparently. We have some uppers in bound right now from Spike's but (0) 16" 5035-MOE and 5035-MLS from either our February or March monthly shipments of uppers. We're told from our Spike's rep they should be seeing barrels "soon" this month, but no exact date as of today. We'll post up when we hear anything else.

We've had a couple PM's and phone calls regarding the uppers ETA. Please refrain from calling in. We'll post the most current up to date information on here.

My lowers are starting to get lonely. :( I did reassure them, though, that it wont be much longer and the wait will have been well worth it. ;)

The last we heard from our Spike's rep on 4/25: "The gas tubes for those are supposed to be here in about a week... and then they are building those out". HOPEFULLY that will mean they're going to be headed our way next week.

I think I see why it's taking so long for Spikes to build these uppers... They're too busy trolling PSA on ar15.com :(

Now I wish I would have gone with the PSA upper. This is the first and last time Spikes will get my money.

Shame on the guy that is representing Spike's on ARFcom, he is apparently a dueche. However, I do not understand how so many people will sit there and talk **** about Spike's as a whole, just because of the dumbass they have representing them over there. There are indeed some things that need fixing (wait time), but they make a great product, and no one can deny that.

    I saw this last week.
It's sad the way some people act.

When I was building my AR I narrowed it down to PSA or Spikes.
Now I'm glad I went with PSA.
