I've made a few of those, back in the day. They arent the best knife steel, but are a great way to practice and have a cool product on the finished end. I've seen a way to make hatchet heads with them, but never made one.

I have a 1987 BMW 535i, and its a fantastic car. I do most of the work on it myself, with a little help from German Auto of Baton Rouge, which is the place to go for getting BMW's and Volvos worked on.
I have several of their bags, and the range bag. Every one of their products has exceeded my expectations. (side note.. don't get a black range bag. you can't see down in it very well).. I got their OD green one.
2 pounds of honey/gallon, zest of a orange + the juice of same, cinnamon stick - heat to 150 or so degrees degrees for 20 mins. let cool naturally. put in carboy, or use a "Mr Beer". add sweet mead yeast. Watch .. yearn, wait.. 3 months. Bottle, wait another couple months. Enjoy.
