I used to work for Island years ago. My company used Island and Woodgroup for contract personnel. They used Cigna for insurance, which will help a lot with a family. Either work 14 / 14 or 7 / 7.
Get a resume together and go to Island Operating, Woodgroup Production, Shamrock Production. They all have offices in Lafayette and do hire people getting out of the military. We have several working out here now for a few months.
Thanks for the info guys. In my hunting situations, I don't need anything more than 100 yds. But I do think it would be fun to target practice at longer distances.
My wife bought me this rifle / scope combo several years ago. I only use this gun for deer and hog hunting. The scope seems to be way more capable than my .270. So I tried to look up info on the scope but found nothing that looks like it. Its a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5 x 14 x 40 w/ an ajustable...
I really like pirogues just for the simple fact they are part of cajun history. But for what I do and the way I hunt, I've found a wide bottom canoe is more useful and safe for me. Lots of times I hunt alone or with a dog. Things can get hairy with a dog in a pirogue loaded down with decoys and...
I hunted two out of it for teal season. No problems with tipping when shooting. I paddle it up the bayou by myself with no problem. Doesn't take much to get it moving. Easy to creep nice and quiet against the bank to get close to the woodies in the sloughs.:D
I haven't tried kayaks but I have been in many pirogues. But what I duck hunt out of is my small 12' flat w/ a 15 mercury or my 12' wide bottom flat back canoe. My canoe is by far my favorite "go to" boat for hunting. Easy to manuever through flooded timber, can easily carry all my gear and very...
I've torched the bamboo both while green and after its been cut and "yellowed " a bit. Either way, it comes out the same. Just remember to drill small holes at the base of each section to allow venting. Otherwise it will split when heating.
I chose the firesteel over a lighter because I always...
Hell no ! I don't want that SOB that close to my house. That graveyard is too nice for that POS. I'd dig him back up just to inflict damage on his rotting corpse. This has consumed so much of my families time in the last month or so, I'll be glad when I don't hear his name come up in every...
Hes coming along good. He had a few bad habits from just being a pet with no discipline for the first 5 months of his life. But he has the smarts to learn. Hes came a long ways since I got him. Haven't decided whether I'll keep him long term or not. I'll finish his training and see from there...
I'm using the Hillman program now and will transition over to Lardy. Out of every dog I've had or trained, the bond between me and the dog are what gets us through the tough times. No matter what, I make it a point to always end on a good note and letting him know hes my buddy before all else...
