I was reloading for a while about 6-7 years ago and stopped. I kept all my equipment and want to start again. My power and primers have been kept in an outside shed that is not humidity controlled. It is in the original containers and is kept in a plastic cabinet...not air tight. Wondering if...
Thanks for the info. It was stuck in the barrel of my .38 and I couldn't get it out so brought it to a local gunsmith, not sure if there was powder left or not. Not sure if the powder smells bad or not, never smelled it before. I'll have to pay more attention and make sure there is powder in all...
Hi all,
I've been told and read that these are caused by no powder in the rounds. I go slow at reloading and can't see how this would happen. I wasn't distracted when reloading this batch. I will say that my powder and primers are a few years old and kept outside in the garage in a cabinet...
Hi all, I was shooting some reloaded ammo last weekend. Shot about 110 rounds no problem then started jamming on me bad. I couldn't get the ammo out of the chamber, had to call one of the guys from the front desk to give me a hand. He couldn't get it at first. He let it cool down a bit and...
Yeah maybe so but I have about 2.5 lbs. left of Unique so I better get used to it at least for the time being. I'll try a dryer sheet and see if that helps any. I'm not near a hot load or anything but I'm trying to figure out what I like as far as loads and it's irritating me! Thanks!
I'm using Lee products, auto disk adjustable charge bar and a digital scale. I haven't reloaded in awhile and getting back into it and forgot this is a pain in the butt! For example, if I'm trying to get 4.8 I'll get a couple of charges that are 4.8 then it'll go from 4.6-4.9 the next few pulls...
Thanks for answering. I guess until I'm really sure of the powder dropping I'll weigh each until I get comfortable. Even then, I'm no power shooter so I can take my time and make sure everything is ok. I don't need 150 rounds an hour.
Yes, trying to weigh powder and case and the same time. Put the brass on the scale, zero it out, lee auto disc measure with the lee charge bar for the powder, then back on the scale. But seems like there is a difference in the brass weight so have to zero the scale out every time. I don't really...
Got my digital scale in and thought I'd try it out. Have a question about the weight of the brass. I'm loading 38sp and noticed that most of the brass weighed different so when trying to get my grains correct I had to weigh each brass and zero out the scale first then load the powder then weigh...
I actually had a 110gr and weighed it. It isn't that far off. Maybe I need to run some more powder thru. I have been reading that the rcbs 505 is easier to read and a little bit faster. Any experience with it? I'm so new to this I don't know which is wrong, dispensers or scale.
Trying to load powder for the first time. I've read all the instructions for the scale and for the lee powder dispenser, have the discs but also bought the Lee adjustable charge bar. I zero out the scale but I cannot get a measure with the scale. I used the disc and the charge bar but the scale...
S&W 38 special 642. I'll lighten up on the crimp. I'll load a few and go to the range tomorrow. Right now I'm trying to get this lee primer back together. First time I use it and a primer gets stuck, try to take apart to get it out and now can't get it back together the right way. The bullet...
Just starting so will not be hot at all. The length, compared to other factory ammo that I have, is a little shorter ...3/128" hardly anything. But compared to what Lyman says my load is .015 longer. When going into hundredths how important is it?
