I want to comment on this but I'm afraid it's too complicated but I'll scratch out a few random thoughts.

This whole issue goes to the core of the people that populate the areas in question. What crap goes on in their heads, w.t.f. are they into that they have to shoot each other? And even if this is necessary, whatever, why endanger bystanders... shoot BABIES! That's not an accident.

This politician is an idiot but he sounds like he is of the people he represents. His command of the English language stinks of Ebonics as does his thought process. My brain mostly translated the words into American English nearly obscuring the content. just sayin'.

Calling for more government control of the individuals in his district is natural to him. Just like his constituents, he is incapable controlling his own behaviors and environment and taking personal responsibility for his community. They need and welcome someone else do it for them. Thanks to Socialism. Now don't get me wrong, its not because they are African-Americans, its because they are Hyphenated-Americans and are comfortable with all that that entails.

I'm sad for them. I hope they wake the f^&k up and holster it (if they stole one of those too). Drop it instead of answering insult with violence. Get a job. Learn to speak. Stand up for the weak in their community, Take pride in it. Become Fathers rather than sperm and organ donors. Sweet jeebus that child was killed for nothing.

Stop all government housing, stop all welfare checks and bring back public hangjng. I have not been to n.o. in 25 years but for a good hanging I just might
come. These people are still about ten generations behind the human race. Not much can cure that but elimination.

thats not a good move i wish they would of never closed the other ones down

U want to leave the shooting galleries open ?? I can agree it's nice to have the real criminals localized...just seems the innocent blood is becoming frequent. I have no better suggestion...let the live together and do what they do or spread them and their influence throughout a bunch of areas. I suppose something similar to the school gang problems after Katrina in the cities inexperienced enough to allow these pack animals in.

    Tuff Call either way

When I lived in LC years ago that was the LE's philosophy, there was a bad part of town so let all the bad people live there and they are easy to find...but same problem, innocents were getting kilt too. They shut down the bad part and spread them out and a large part oc the city now feels crimes that were once localized

Yeah, hurricane Katrina et al. blew trash all over the South.......

I've been saying it for years and years.... the only practical way to get rid of the crime problem is to remove the bad actors......permanently.

Just go get one of those giant tree shredders the highway department uses and park it behind the jails. On your third felony CONVICTION (this is america after all) in you go. You can do your community service and redeem yourself by being fertilizer in the city park. It's fair for the dope suppliers, it's fair for the criminals, and it's fair for the victims.

    Quick.
    Simple.
    Cheap.

Im getting sick of reading about the perps doing the things they do after already having (no, Im not joking) 8, 9, 10 felony convictions for robbery, murder, drugs, etc.... and there they are walking free down the street to continue their thuggery.......Im talking the hard crimes with real victims. Then after 6 months or a year in jail they get out because ah em, the jails are too crowded.

Practically all of these repeat offenders are responsible for more than 90% of the crimes. Cops are on first name basis with a lot of them and can recognize them on sight because of all the multitudes of police contact with them.

Typically, one does not start off right at the top. It's usually vehicle burglary, weed possession, shoplifting etc. and they just work themselves up the list.

The one thing I admire about the Chinese is that they have an extremely low repeat offendor rate.

and make sure this applies to corrupt politicians too. Especially so !!!! In fact, corrupt public officials, including dirty cops and LE should get the tree shredder on their FIRST conviction !!!

If what the NOPD is doing is not working, why don't we try to fix that? Why don't we prosecute these criminals harder. Why are repeat offenders walking around free?
This just seems like more liberal propaganda. It is horrible when an innocent person is caught in the middle, especially a baby, but what would the nat'l guard have done differently to prevent this? It's not as bad here as everyone makes it out to be.

I don't really know how bad it really is but I am acquainted with Hegelianism - create problem then offer YOUR solution that you wished to have but could not sell to the public.

The National Guard will be ineffective.

The problem lies with the judicial system - which is wholly ineffective. It's controlled by those who wish to see us all enslaved. Until we, as a nation, learn to "see behind the curtain" all is lost.

There's the missing phrase...finally , the government is ready to save us from our selves, thank you Emperor Osama

This is not Obama's doing - nor is it Bush's ( a poke at the "Loony Left" as opposed to their "opposames" the "Looney Right").

Check into the Executive Orders and the founding of FEMA. COG has had numerous names in the past but the goal has not been altered. It has been reported (and I now forget who) that 98% of FEMA's budget is devoted to COG which includes command centers and camps.

    Rex-84. Cablesplicer.

And I'm certain there were/are others we have yet to find out about.

Uptick in crime causing increase in gun sales

The recent increase in crime in New Orleans has people heading to gun stores in the area, and gun store owners say they are feeling a slight increase as more people concerned about crime look for protection.

Steve Nothem from Wisconsin and Dustin Reddell from Arkansas are in the Marine Corps. Both are stationed in New Orleans, and say the recent increase in violent crime has them concerned.

"The first thing I thought of was, oh crap, I've got to do something to protect my family, so as soon as I know I was getting stationed out here, I went and got my conceal carry, bought a pistol, and came out here," said Nothem.

Nothem says no matter where he goes in the city he keeps his weapon on him.

dam...500, 000 back ground checks in one month ...did I hear right ??

    HaHaHa...I hope that s true

What a hoot though, Marines saying they are more worried about N.O than living in a combat zone...well, they didn't exactly put it like that but if you add a little and stir in some projection you can get there...The guy from Ar says he wanted to carry a kife at frist, Marine + K Bar is considered a crime wave by the enemy.

Ok I live in New Orleans and work in the Quarter. Let me throw out some things.

It really doesn't matter what the NOPD dose or dose not do. Bring them to jail so they can get released in no time. The NOPD avoids certain areas like some one suggested, Sorry I can't blame them. I would not go there with out lots and lots of back up. Executing them would stop the repeat offenders but your dealing with things that have no regard for life and think there entitled to something. I will never forget what I was told after informing a tourist where he got his shoes. " what you don't like no black man making money" How do you fix it? They can get there welfare checks and section 8 and food stamps and then go out and beg, hustle, steal, sell drugs or god knows what as drugs. They can't and don't want to be fixed

OK, Senator Badon, Spit it out: Why don't you say who these "certain people" are ?

We all know exactly who they are !

The problem is a creature of decades of federal "compassion" coupled with 40 years of racial voting. The Shooters are the 15 - 25 year old uneducated Black gangsters of the "housing project" and "AFDC" culture. These are fourth & fifth generation "welfare voters" to be, doing the shootings.

I deal with the survivors of these gangs on an almost daily basis. They are uneducated, uneducable, spiteful little sociopaths who violently curse their own mothers and grandmothers. These guys have no concept of the sanctity of life or of any consciences, at all.

Our city's 60% Black voters have started to awaken and are now voting for the best candidates, not based on race. I pray that the voters will start to look more criticaly at our Judge candidates. As has been recently pointed out; the shooters whom are caught all have extensive "rap sheets" and have been through the "revolving door of justice" at Tulane & Broad, many times.

New Orleans may need outside help; but there are other resources to call upon first. The Louisiana State Police are much more trusted than NOPD. Let's ask for them to come.

Also, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office was recently consolidated and we now have ONE SHERIFF, just as all other Parishes always have had. Let's see some O.P.S.O. patrols. Citizens don't fear the deputies like we fear the police. Our Sheriff, an educated and very popular man, knows that he outranks both Chief Serpas and Mayor Landrieu in this Louisiana Parish, when it comes to law-enforcement.

To think; Austin Badon is far from our worst state senator ! Austin is just misguided. Maybe he should get senior Senator Ed Murray to explain things to him.

No, instead, they call for disarming the law-abiding citizen-victims !

Just think what a "news piece" like this does for Tourism, the life-blood of this City !

I think you said you asked a black tourist in NO where he got his shoes and he got upset ??

I DO agree with you that the thug element does not want help...in their mind they are doing fine living off the " game "

I dealt with same element for several years as part of my job...it's not a mindset that we should try to understand, only know that these kind are animals and are not trying to be understood or work their way out of a bad situation. They are interested in what they want when they want it...there is no compassion, sense of fairness, nothing to cause them to have human attributes. Not sure if souless is a word but it would fit...or zombies is good also

The fix ...hahaha, not on public 4um

Katrina came close, but in the end spread the disease to a lot of other parts of the country
