I'm not trying to cause any commotion, I'm just relaying what was taught to me by an incredibly sufficient instructor. I'm sure you all here have much more knowledge and information than I do... and I agree the Federal Property issue is not very clear. A lot of VA's (personal experience here) allow weapons to be locked up in vehicles and not brought in - even thought technically it's against the law. They recognize the fact that our service men and women often have to travel great lengths to get to a facility and their protection is their right along the journey. That won't stop them for arresting an idiot that may brandish or brag for instance though. Best bet is to park offsite if you want to fully comply with the current existing laws on that one...

Welcome to BS. Who was your instructor?

He's a NRA instructor RSO, LSP and notary... kinda like a one stop shop lol

Sounds like a one stop shopping trip. So he's a LSP Trooper? My first two refresher CHP classes were taught by a Lt LSP Trooper, the next was a SO Deputy and the last was somome that was LE.

Question: While carrying a firearm in vehicle on school campus may be legal, is it legal for a school to take action against a student for doing so?

I just looked in our commissioned database which lists everyone commissioned through LSP. He isn't on there. He's not a trooper.

    absolutely.

their rules. just because you can't be charged doesn't mean you can't be suspended etc.

Just brainstorming, but I don't believe they can force you to let them search your vehicle, right? So in essence they would be suspending/expelling you for refusing a search unless the firearm is in plain sight, correct?

What is a contact number for him so I can turn it over to the proper people. What did his badge look like? He's not a trooper. There is no such thing as an LSP Special Agent. There is no such thing as the number LSP117. No number starts with LSP. That might be his CHP instructor permit. But means nothing in regards to any type of commission or position in the agency.
