Not to thread jack, but to those who have a 10/22 takedown, for the money, do you think it's a better pack choice than the old AR7? (Or the Henry survival rifle)
Took a Marlin 917 17 hmr with synthetic stock and bought a Marlin 880SQ wood stock, with metal trigger guard and mounting hardware and with sanding and some minwax finishing this was end result. This 917 was the VRX model and came with the adjustable trigger and the 880SQ doesn't have that in the stock so the majority of the job was taking out the extra wood inside the stock to fit the trigger housing.
Thanks, numrich had a sale on the 880SQ walnut stocks for $47 and I knew the trigger group was smaller, but figured ..o well lets try. Everything else bolted right up, I just had to take most of the wood out of the trigger housing area and some near the mounting hole for the trigger guard, but its nice and tight fit.
