      Knife Sharpener

      FYI, I went to Mr. Roy's today to get a knife sharpened. I've never been very good at sharpening, but bought a stone and strop from Mr. Roy, and he gave me a lesson on how to do it. Nice guy.

      New Gun shop in Ponchatoula

      I've done business with them out of their home. Glad to hear they have a shop set up. I always stop by their booth at gun shows to look at the ARs.

      New range in Bedico

      I went to the Bedico range a couple of weeks ago. If you've been to Tallow Creek, the new range will look very familiar. Long dirt road winding back to the range -- keep going past the goat pen -- with pistol range on one end and rifle on the other. Pretty basic, but it is close to the house...

      The outline in the ad has 1/2 inch longer slide and a slight bulkier grip than my DB380, so it looks close to a DB9 in size.

      According to a Wall Street Journal article a couple of weeks ago, battery manufacturing is the biggest user of lead by far. Growing Asian economies (like China) are expected to need ever increasing numbers of batteries. So less lead for the other stuff, like ammo.

      Try wearing some of those cheap foam ear plugs. It filters out a lot of the noise and you can hear much better.

      Jean Lafitte gun show tomorrow

      I went today. I was shocked at the small crowd. But there was plenty to look at. Ended up buying only a range bag and a Lee press, but I got to take my time and talk to the vendors. Also, beef jerky and candied pecans! They have another show scheduled in April.

      They are usually at the local gun shows, have been for several years. Their focus seems to be C&R stuff.
