You're not going to have a significant difference in speed with the 77 over the 80.5 or 82.
Being that you are handicapping yourself by keeping the COAL at mag length you need to select a bullet that has the highest ballistic coefficient. What you're loosing to speed you're going to gain a...
I would try the 82 and the 80.5 you are going to be at a disadvantage by running at mag length. The more bullet you have in the case means that there is less powder in the case so velocity will be down.
I hope you can read the wind!
I would use Winchester commertial brass and a Remington...
Yes Rick you are correct!
I did minimal testing with the 82 Berger at magazine length at 600 in a 26" AR upper it was ok.
Akajun is also correct, the Pennsylvania team shot thousands at mag length with great success.
Personally I still prefer the the 80 Berger VLD in my service gun and bolt...
If you going with the 223/5.56 you will want 24 to 26" of barrel with a 1in7 or 1in8 twist to shoot the 77-82 grain bullets, a 55 or 62 will NEVER make it that far and be on your target.
If something other than a 22 I would go with the 6mmHagar but you will have to reload.
The 6.8 at 600...
What has worked well for me with my 5 year old is ear plugs the orange 30db reducing ones I think I got from Cabelas they are Radians brand 25 pair in a jar for $12 then a pair of Peltor electronic earmuffs. He is very noise sensitive but this combination has worked at a covered range and for a...
" The guys shooting blind magazines seemed to feel the restriction of not being able to load and shoot as fast and those who were pushing AR's and DBM bolt actions were able to concentrate on wind and changing conditions more."
Who would have ever thunk it?
BK
Yes it is an advantage regardless of caliber. The longer you lay there waiting to shoot the greater chance that a condition will change. So for the guy who is all loaded up all he has to do is watch the conditions and shoot as soon as the target is up.
Have you ever asked Don Geraci why he...
Rick am I missing something here? So if all rounds are to be fired from the mag, no single loading how are you going to get 22 rounds in a blind mag rifle?
Buck
Nightforce does not make a "Varmit" model scope. You have the benchrest model, the rheostat on top gives it away, this is incorporated with the side parallax on the NSX. Nice rig!
The wheels are already turning, this is gonna cost lots!
Dan, you should take a look at Nightforces 2 1/2 x15x50 F1 being you can almost get it for free.
