Electronic ear protectors.
I cheaped out and got the ryobi tek4 muffs as part of a package deal at HD. I was really surprised at how well they work and they have a rechargeable battery. on the down side they are thick and interfer with the cheek weld but are great for pistol and shotgun. -

tactical .22 LR advise

Good bolt action rimfire?
The first time you hit something with the .17HMR and it explodes you will never put it down. :D Accurate enough for a head shot on a squirrel at 100 yards (if you can get them to hold still long enough).:biglaugh: -

WTB M1 Carbine
There were three in the cabela's collection at the Gonzales store this weekend. Three different condition levels. I think they started at 800-90 and one that was around $1400-ouch... They also had a garand. -

Ruger 10/22 vs. Remington 597
I was considering the 597 as well. A couple buddies had them and they kind of self destructed after awhile. I think remington really missed a great oppurtunity to take on the 10/22. They should have put a few more quality components in it and manufactured it to a little tighter specs. It feels... -

Want oopinions on Savage 17 HMR rifle
there is a very extensive write up on the 17 hmr on the varmital.com http://www.varmintal.com/17hmr.htm It is really good out to about 200 yards on rabbit sized game. Accuracy is good enough to go for a head shot at that distance. I want to use mine to snipe a rabbit that far! -

CZ 453 American cal. 22 LR
