Added a inspection hole to my 1911 to check a chambered round tonite
I would like to ask respectfuly and in a humble manner for someone to address the intent of the mod. Let's please seperate the quality issue for now. I didn't see where the Op (twin) was advocating press check over the Inspection hole. IMHO the intent is a convenience factor. Let's not forget... -

Anybody good at identifying wood?
My bet is Mahogany with what likes from the pics red mag stain. If you posted a pic further away showing the coloring of the wood it would help. But pics are hard to judge by. Mahogany And Spanish Cedar look a lot alike. Spanish cedar is terrible about leaching oils out and curdling the finish...- Big Jake

Thanks for the info GM The stove pipe was from Remington factory reloads that i purchased at the range, if I remember right, first 100rds. Then shot 50 rds of new hardball with no problems. 1 malfunction makes me suspect of the ammo and not the gun. I love the gun so far but only slinging lead... -

Thanks Brad for the tip on the Golden Sabre hollow points and I will not hold it against the gun if it ends not shooting hollow points. I bought the gun new 2 weeks ago and went to the range. Fired 150 rds of ball ammo some range reloads with 1 stove pipe right out the box after inspection. Love the gun, I even had my wife shoot it and she has not fired a weapon in 15 years and on the second mag she stacked 5 out 7 rds touching... -

Secure room construction
I rely on layers of security rather then better then bank vault walls. Fences, maybe dogs, locks, construction, etc. and my eggs are not all in one basket. Crooks are naturally lazy. I would consider the placement of the room within your metal building. If I were paranoid enough to worry about...- Big Jake
