I am speakin' about the terminal performance of the slug...,193 bullets are too stable on impact out of a 1/12 twist...I need a slug that acts like the 193 from a 1/14;but out of a 1/12.I have read that a 12 will not stablize a 69 grn. enough, and a 62 grn. is JUST TOO stable to act like a 193...
I forgot about my old S&W .38 HD with the kieth loads,( that I got from him personaly btw...),but that wheeler is WWAAAYYYY to heavy for C.C.;I know it will do for porky...but for carry.....NO WAY !!!.
I have a .223 with a 1-12 twist, and I want to duplicate the terminal performance of the original 55 grn./1-14 design load for the AR15/m16.
Is there a bullet on the market that will let me do this ?...( 22" bbl.),maybe a factory load to use as a control for handloads?
THANX:cool:
My patch is way too thick to use my .308 plus I want something for CCW,can't afford to pay money at this time,so I am thinkin' to trade my German made .308 for a good .45 auto.A 50foot shot is A L O N G shot where I pursue porky....is the A.C.P. up to it ya think ?
THANKS for input
as good as the .243 is..., the 25-06 is light years ahead as a deer cartridge. And with todays premium bullets,it stands right next to the .270 up to and includin' elk....out to 400 yrd.s,then the .270 takes over.Just the observations of this relocated Montana man.If I were to choose one for...
well...when I get DUCKIN',it'll be from my jon-boat I guess,but 1st I need to get a duck gun of some kind,my 28 won't do and I guess at least a 3" to take advantage of all the diff. loads.Don't know what gun yet...,haven't had a "twice-barrel"(as a couple of my OLDER coon-ass in-laws say),in a...
Sounds like I'm missin' somethin' good...,I went huntin' ONCE with my in-laws...,I survived, and haven't been again with those idgits(wow that was over 30 yr.s ago!)none of my kids are into it...so I guess I'll start on own....now the fun part...the roundin' up of the gear!.Actually, watchin Duck...
:confused:is it really as fun as it is portrayed by Duckers.I've jump shot 'em a couple of times but didn't think much of it one way or another. Is it better from boat/blind?,do companions make a difference?.I have lived in Louzeeana 1/2 my life and have seen some folks loose their minds over...
Have shot '06,.308 and .300s...what I do with the .300 is load heavys for the same ranges as the first two...for way bigger game than deer.Grew up shootin' .303 Brit. and out to 400 with 150's,no more power is needed for deer(not elk/moose)but huntin' is for fun and games anyway,so shoot what ya...
.300...I have an '06 on a small ring Mauser action, and because of it I keep my loads at the original '06 vel.s/press.s,...150's@2700+- and 180's@2500+-,and 220's @ 2300+-... in the field,I can't tell the diff. from the loads I use in my FN '98,except for recoil impulse,or at long...
I have a 2nd model S&W HEAVY DUTY in.38 SLP.( .38/44),and want to UP caliber and remove after market nickle and parkerize it.Any good pistolsmiths in cenLA. recomends?
THANXX:rofl:
am startin' her shootin' and she LOVES pump guns,I have a 1996 mdl. .308,straight-pull, bolt gun, made by Mauser...M96,American model(can see a couple like it at Gunbroker). It's in good shape, like the ones at GB,my wood is a little darker...shoots good even with the cheapest ammo. Am 2nd...
yes you can,but some places have mag.capacity restrictions.I am kinda in the same boat about goin' huntin'...,been a shooter all my life, but time to go huntin' for a driver has always been fleeting. Now i'm retired and have no money but LOTS of time !!!
It looks like my scout!.........that I built 40 years ago.....but my SMLE .303 has ONE feature I don't think the Ruger has.....the ability for the mag. to be reloaded IN PLACE by use of strpper clips......it is a great idea even in detatch. mag type rifles.I believe that the original scout is...
